Frequently Asked Questions About Fight Shorts Manufacturing

What fabric do you use for custom MMA and fight shorts?
It depends on the cut. MMA standard and BJJ grappling shorts use a woven 90/10 or 95/5 Poly/Spandex at 120–160 GSM — durable with enough stretch for cage and mat movement. Boxing and vale tudo compression shorts use an 85/15 Poly/Spandex knit, which is stretchier and softer. Muay Thai shorts are cut from 100% polyester satin.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for private label fight shorts?
MOQ starts at 50 pieces per design or colourway, across all cuts — MMA, BJJ grappling, Muay Thai and Vale Tudo. For brands using in-stock fabric colours we can often accommodate smaller sample runs before bulk.
Will the sublimation printing on my fight shorts crack or fade?
No. All GYMHUR fight shorts use 100% full dye-sublimation, where ink is permanently embedded into the polyester fibres rather than sitting on top — so logos, colours and artwork never crack, peel or fade, no matter how many washes or sessions. Screen printing is not used on performance fight shorts.
Can you manufacture different cuts — MMA, BJJ, Muay Thai and Vale Tudo?
Yes. We offer full OEM pattern grading for all combat cuts — MMA standard (Velcro slit), Vale Tudo (tight compression), Muay Thai (high slit satin), BJJ grappling (no-gi stretch) or a custom hybrid. Our pattern masters can also develop a new cut from your sketch or reference sample.
Do you manufacture custom boxing shorts, and how do they differ from MMA shorts?
Yes — boxing shorts are a distinct cut with a wider leg opening, higher waist and longer rise, made from either 85/15 Poly/Spandex knit or a satin-effect polyester for the classic competition look. We offer traditional long-cut and Mexican-style, with full-width branded elastic waistbands and dye-sublimation or embroidery. MOQ 50 pieces.
Do you add reinforced seams and a crotch gusset to fight shorts?
Yes, as standard. All shorts are assembled with heavy-duty 4-needle, 6-thread flatlock stitching, with a diamond or triangle crotch gusset on all MMA and BJJ cuts to prevent seam blowouts during high kicks, takedowns and guard work. Double-stitched side seams are standard.
What waistband options are available for custom fight shorts?
Four configurations: (1) hook-and-loop Velcro closure with internal drawstring — the MMA standard; (2) elastic waist with drawstring for training and grappling; (3) fully elastic waist for Vale Tudo/compression; and (4) a custom silicone-grip inner band to stop ride-up during live rolling. Width and branding are fully customisable.
What is the lead time for custom fight shorts?
Pre-production sampling takes 10–21 days including pattern making and fabric sourcing. Bulk production averages 3–4 weeks after approval. Air freight (DHL/FedEx) to the USA, UK, Europe and Australia takes 7–12 days; sea freight 25–40 days.
Do you offer private labelling — custom tags, labels and packaging?
Yes. We deliver a fully branded, retail-ready product — custom woven neck labels, satin wash-care labels, inner-waist printed branding, retail hang-tags and logo poly-bag packaging. All branding is confirmed in writing and on a pre-production sample before bulk.
